I finally got the permission from Georg (editor). Whoot!
The cover illustration of the Carcassonne Winteredition. More information and the final packaging can be found here:[link]
I started to prepare for the job in December (actually it involved applying... normally I get booked straight away for a game). After finalizing the rough concept of everything (cover, architecture (tricky!), card concepts) I asked Irene (
you should check her gallery!!!!) to help me with the cover since I knew I'd never be able to paint those in a 100%ly satisfying quality and the editor didn't want any squishy SD characters
I'm happy with the final game and honestly the print of the cards is so wonderfully sharp (always a huge problem!) that you can see very mini-sheep O_O
Rumors are there'll be more expansions. I cross my fingers for it since it was a hard but good job and worth every stroke (of the billions it took) so I wouldn't mind doing some more cards.
made with: Photoshop/Wacom Intuos on my side
Photoshop/Cintiq on Irene's side (I can't handle that bloody thing... the Cintiq.. not Irene)
Please be so kind and drop Irene some lines if you like the cover. We worked really hard on it and she deserves every hug and awww possible.
