So... yesterday I had a 4 hours meeting marathon @ Schmidt Spiele and got my first "Pick Nick!" package which turned out awesome. This one was produced over the last couple of months of 2013. I included the rough cover sketch and the character moods to give you an idea how the whole thing looks "in progress". I think I still have tons of photos from the bird production- it was fun to see how that one took shape over the weeks.
The game is for kids and strenghtens motoric skills (it's not that easy to position Nick perfectly to pick up the leaves) and memory (you might end up picking your own character if you forgot which leaf is yours). If you're lucky you can "hide" under a cover leaf but only so long till you have to move your character again onto another flower color.
I lost so many times against my nephew it's not funny.
What I did:
As always basically everything. Cover, logo, characters, board game, head design and color selection for the dice, shape for the final stencils and Nick himself since we worked very closely with the producer and got to shape the head and feet in 3D which was cool. The color turned out a bit neon but kids seem to love it. O_o
Maike did an awesome job with lettering and layouting the manual and I think we never spend so much time on a backside of the packaging like on this one.
The game should hit the stores over the next weeks. The manual language is German, Italian and French but I think we did a good job with the image explanation so everybody should understand it by images only. It's like an IKEA manual... really.
The price is around 25 Euro.
